6 Tips for Moms-to-be Who Can't Sleep Well During Pregnancy
During pregnancy, many moms-to-be can’t sleep well at night due to hormonal changes and discomfort. Some worry that if they're awake, their baby might not sleep well either. Don't worry, your baby has their own sleep schedule and can sleep soundly even if you're awake.
Some studies suggest that poor sleep quality during pregnancy might have some negative effects, such as prolonging labor or increasing the likelihood of C-section birth. However, there's limited research on whether it affects childbirth outcomes.
Instead of worrying about this issue, it's better to take steps to improve sleep quality:
1. Stick to a regular sleep routine.

Maintain a regular sleep schedule, going to bed and waking up at the same time every day.
2. Keep your bedroom comfy.

Ensure your bedroom is quiet, comfortable, and at a suitable temperature.
3. Exercise moderately.

Engage in moderate exercise, like a daily half-hour walk.
4. Avoid heavy meals and limit liquids before bed.

Avoid eating heavy or hard-to-digest foods for dinner, and try not to eat or drink too much before bedtime.
5. Try Kegel exercises to reduce nighttime bathroom trips.

If you frequently wake up at night, you can practice Kegel exercises during the day to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles and improve bladder control, which may help reduce nighttime bathroom uses.
6. Listen to calming sounds to relax before sleep.

For moms-to-be who have difficulty falling asleep or poor sleep quality, listening to white noise before bedtime, such as the sound of ocean waves or rain, can help relax the mind and improve sleep.
